Hargreaves Lansdown blocks access to four investment trusts

Cost disclosure battle continues, with private investors the unintended casualty
Hargreaves Lansdown blocks access to four investment trustsPublished on December 18, 2024
  • Four trusts currently blocked on the platform
  • This has to do with their cost disclosures

Hargreaves Lansdown is preventing its customers from investing in four investment trusts, including Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square (PSH), due to an issue with the way they disclose costs.

Investors cannot presently buy new shares in Pershing Square, HarbourVest Global Private Equity (HVPE), Oakley Capital (OCI) or Sequoia Economic Infrastructure Income (SEQI) on the platform, although they can sell existing holdings. Hargreaves confirmed to Investors’ Chronicle the blocks relate to recent changes to cost disclosure rules.
